Random Happenings

Kenya on the bed just playing. I let her take a nap on our bed the other day. When she started to make noise I thought, I will wait a few moments to see if she will fall back asleep. I went back into the bedroom from the kitchen in only a few minutes (maybe 2 tops) and she had rolled to her stomach and across the bed. When I laid her down she has her feet on the edge where I sleep and when I came in her head was about 3-4 inchers from the edge where Robert sleep. I canlt do that anymore.

All these picture were taking at Smith Park. It is Kenya being cute and daddy playing with her. She is actually quite mobile now. She is rolling from stomach to back and back to stomach. When on either she is scooting around quite well. She is so strong!
This is a typical site at our house. This comes up and cuddles all the time when I am feeding Kenya. What a cute cat! It can get annoying.
She fell asleep in her swing. Look at how cute her hands are! (Sorry, I don't know why this picture didn't turn) Robert said she looks like she is praying. Maybe she was.
This is the first time that Kenya cried herself to sleep in her own bed. She wants to be nursed to sleep all the time. So, when we got back from vacation and her being almost 4 months old, I decided it was time for her to have her own bed and not need mom to go to sleep. The progress with this has been good. The first 2 nights she cried for 50 minutes and then only slept like an hour or less. Now, we are at around 30 minutes and she will sleep til about 1am. Then she wakes up and I nurse her right back to sleep. The purpose was not to make her stay in her own bed ALL the time, but just so that she would not need me to fall asleep and so that she was comfortable sleeping in her bed. We had amazing results because the picture right before this one is of her sleeping in her swing. This is the second day of her putting herself to sleep and she went to sleep in her swing. This is something she has only done once before. What a trooper she has been. She sure is amazing!
There is a small splash park in Rexburg and we went one day last week with a few friends. Kenya, "nothinged" it. Robert and I use that expression when we do something and she just continues to stare blankly at use. For example, if Robert or I give her a kiss and she does not react, we say, "She nothings you/it." I do think that the water was tickling he feet a bit though.

Evans' Family Pig Fest

Pig Fest is something my parents have done the last 3 years in the summer. Before it was Memorial day weekend, but this year in hopes that the weather would be better it was June 20. We had tons of fun. My entire family was able to make it!! It is all about family, friends and food and my parents house. And I sure loved the food!!! The entire time we were there my dad spoiled us with BBQ, yummy pork and the best breakfasts you can have.
While we were there Kenya was great!! She was held by all and loved by all! When she was on the floor enjoying some down time, she has started to move around. She turns from stomach to back and she can even scoot her way around a little bit. Honestly child, you are only 3 1/2 months old. She also is grabbing at things and putting them in her mouth.
This is her cousin Sara, Cheri's daughter and Kenya playing on the floor. Sara scooted her way next to Kenya and then started playing with Kenya's hands and face. What a nice cousin.
Our friend Yolonda Hart from high school and a sweet sleeping Kenya.
Kenya and I with her first camping experience. She didn't mind it one bit. What a trooper she was.
Grandpa and Kenya! Grandpa is probably one of Kenya's favorite relatives because he shares his food with her. He gave her some marshmallows, chocolate cookie, and ice from his lemonade.
This is Alyxana, my brother Josh's youngest daughter. She is 1 and so cute! Look at those amazing blue eyes!
Daddy and Kenya at Pig Fest. My mom made all of her grandchildren matching outfits. Kenya's was beautiful on her.
Aunt Amy and all of the little ones. Kenya, Rachel, Aly, Harmon, and Sara. How cute!!
This is my whole family, minus on niece (Jayde). It was the first time since my wedding that all of my siblings were together. Hurray!! Nice work mom and dad you have a wonderful family!
Grandpa, cousin Harmon and Kenya. My dad was using the tractor to pull the pig out of the ground.
Aunt Michelle and Kenya, around the time the pig was dug up.

Music in the Park/ Then and Now

This is Kenya on the day she came home from the hospital.

This is a picture taken just moments ago in the same outfit. The exact same outfit.

See, I told you she has grown!!!

These next two are at Smith Park here in Rexburg on Thursday evening. There are free concerts for the summer. It was nice for most of it, but then we ended up leaving a little bit early because the famous Rexburg wind picked up and it was threatening to rain. All in all, it was a fun experience and we might go a few more time this summer.

Don't mind the weird proportion of my belly in this shot. This little carrier is great! THANKS CAREY'S!!

BBQ Season and Weekend Visitors

The end of last week we had some really nice weather (it was a little too hot though). It definitely was BBQ time. On Saturday we have BBQ for lunch and dinner. It was great!
For lunch we had some friends over and grilled chicken. It was the first time I had done that and surprisingly, it turned out well. YUM YUM!
Then that evening Cheri and her kids came over from Boise and Kira came too. So, when they got here it was burgers and dogs.
Then Sunday we went to a friends house for another BBQ! I sure do love grilling. BBQ's are one of the best parts of summer.

Here are a few picture of our visitors.

These are Cheri's boys: Matt, Sam and AJ

All the girls: Me, Kenya, Cheri and Sara, Kira and Rachel (Cheri's Daughter)

Cute picture of Rachel, Kenya and Kira.

Thanks for coming guys it was fun!

Kenya has now met all of her cousins but two. Alyxana and Jayde, we will meet you at pig fest in June. Can't wait!!!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!

Today, Robert enjoyed some quality time with his daughter, while I enjoyed some alone time. Robert had an appointment set up for me at the day spa here in Rexburg. He dropped me off and did not even tell me what I was there for. So, when I got inside I asked them and they told me it was a full hour massage and a pedicure. I was at the spa for just over 2 hours and loved it!!
This was my Mother's day gift from him! LOVED IT!!
Thank you, Robert!! I love you so much!!!

Kenya's Dance Moves!

In this video Lois is trying to get Kenya to smile like normal, but she knows when the camera is running so she doesn't smile! However, Kenya does give some sweet action shots! Note how Kenya doesn't do anything Lois asks her to! Ha! Ha! Ha!

The many faces of Kenya

Here are some more photos! Kenya has begun to be more interactive and she makes more faces than before!
This is on Lois's first Mother's Day.
One of our favorites!!

All smiles

Kenya's big day.

Today Kenya got her first round of shots. One oral, two in her right leg and one in her left. Her pain from that was brief as far as we could tell. She cried from being held on the table, but once they were done and I picked her up she stopped crying. We gave her some Tylenol about 10 minutes before the shots and I am sure that helped (thanks for the tip Julia). So, then why is it that she cried in pain some much about 2 hours after her shots. I am confident it was because she hadn't pooped in over two days and she was trying to work it out. I could tell because all she wanted to do is nurse for comfort and even then she would stop nursing and I could she and feel her pushing to try and get her poops out. After a short time and probably the most I have heard her cry she fell a sleep for an hour or so. Then when she woke up she pooped. AND BOY DID SHE!!! She had her first blow out. It come out the front on her stomach and also out the back. Now, she is happy Kenya again.

Also, this morning was her first time being caught on camera smiling. It is on my cell phone, so the quality is not very good. For about the last week I have been able to get her to smile at me. She is smiling everyday a little bit more frequently. What a great baby!

More of Kenya

I am holding Kenya just after getting her ready for the day. She's a cute outfit from Leonna Obedowski. Thank you so much, Leonna! We think you have some pretty good taste in baby clothing!

Here is Robert holding Kenya after a bath. How Cute!
